Obituary of John N. "Pepsi" Petradelis
John N. “Pepsi” Petradelis, 74, of Peabody, passed away surrounded by his family early Thursday morning at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Bouras) Petradelis, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. John was born in Lynn, MA, on September 1, 1944, son of the late Pelopidas and Sophie (Demopoulos) Petradelis. He was raised and educated in Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School, Class of 1962. John was as a Pepsi Cola distributor for 25 years on the North Shore. He also sold real estate and worked part-time at the Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody. John was an active member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, where he served as past president. He was a founding member of the St. Vasilios Men’s Club, past president of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association), a member of the Aleppo Shriners, and a Freemason. John had an immense love for sports, even serving as the head coach for 10 years for the Boy’s Varsity soccer team at Peabody High School, leading them to the 1992 GBL High School Championship and a #5 ranking in the state. He enjoyed traveling to places such as Greece, Aruba, and taking Mediterranean cruises, but most importantly he enjoyed being surrounded by his loving family, especially his 7 grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind, giving person who put everyone else’s needs before his own while having a positive attitude regardless of the situation and always using his favorite phrase “Everything is wonderful.” He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Besides his loving wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Sophia Petromelis and her husband Jonathan of Peabody, George Petradelis and his wife Susan of Peabody, his 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, Eleni, Big Michael, Celeste, Chloe, Jake and Little Michael; his sisters-in-law, Irene Giannias, Zoi Armenis, Connie Booras and her husband Christ, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Emmanuel “Mike” Petradelis, and a sister-in-law, Anna Lagogianis. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, from 4-8 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Monday, July 29 at 10A.M. at the funeral home followed by a funeral service in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 11A.M.. He will be laid to rest in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
