Obituary of Joseph F. Edry

Joseph F Edry, 89, of Peabody, died Wednesday evening surrounded by his loving family at the Care One Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Rita (Tkachuk) Edry with whom he shared over 64 years of marriage. Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late Stanley and Pauline (Norkveck) Edry. He was raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1946. He later entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War for two years before his honorable discharge in 1953 and then transferred to the Army Reserve until March 20, 1957. Joseph attended Franklin Institute in Boston for two years and then received his BBA in Engineering and Management for Northeastern University in 1956. Following his graduation from Northeastern, Joseph embarked on a 40-year career at the GE Riverworks Aviation in Lynn as an administrator and retired at the end of 1988. Following his retirement, Joseph enjoyed traveling with his wife to Vero Beach Florida during the winter months. Joseph was an avid Polish Dancer and was a long-time member of the Polish American Veteran Club in both Lowell and Lynn.
