Obituary of James Arthur McInnis Jr.
Peabody – James Arthur McInnis Jr., beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. June 6, 1951-August 14, 2019.
It is with much sadness that we announce Jim’s passage into heaven on Wednesday, August 14th, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Beverly, MA, he was the son of the late, James A. Sr, and Doris (Simpson) McInnis of Peabody. He lived his whole life in Peabody, and went to school in the Peabody public system.
Jim worked at Parker Brothers in Salem, he went on to own Mac’s restaurant in Beverly, where he worked happily beside his wife, father, mother, children, and many family members. He then went on to work for himself delivering home heating fuel for Jim’s Oil.
Jim was an avid boat lover, and frequently went to Lake Winnipesaukee at Paugus Bay with his family. Nothing pleased him more than just sitting in the boat (even when it was on the trailer in the back yard!)
Jim was a very kind soul, and did things for others that went beyond what most people would do, and he never complained! He was grateful for what he had, and never really wanted for much. He taught his boys by example, and never criticized them.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (LeBlanc), son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda, son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Susan, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Tom Bennett, sister-in-law, Mary Chodor and her husband, Tony, brother-in-law, Bill LeBlanc and companion, Martha, brother-in-law, John LeBlanc and companion, Terri. Jim had seven grandchildren, Jeff and Sue’s kids; Shannon, Molly, Ryan, and Meghan, Jim and Linda’s kids; Kaitlyn, Jimmy, and Nick. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as longtime friend, Preston Fawson. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Sorrell.
No one meant more to me than Jim. We were together for 50 beautiful years (our first date was 8/1/69). He could never be replaced, but he always told me I’d be okay after he went, “You’ll be okay, El. You’ll figure it out.” I guess it’s time to figure it out.
And until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
