Obituary of Diane Currie
Diane (Cooper) Currie, 69, of Peabody, MA, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 14, 2019 just five days short of her 70th birthday, at the Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lynn, MA on August 19, 1949, Diane was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Fournier) Cooper. She was raised in Salem, MA and graduated from Salem High School.
Shortly after high school, Diane entered the US Army and served as a medical specialist during the Vietnam era.
After being honorably discharged, she was later employed at the North Shore Medical Center formerly Salem Hospital for over 30 years serving as a nurses aide and unit secretary before retiring in 2015.
She cherished spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was very passionate about her time serving in the military, and absolutely adored animals, especially her dogs, Riley, Harlee and Wyatt.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Glenn of Peabody, her son Charles “Chip” Spicer of Peabody, her daughter Katie and her wife Ashley Currie of Peabody, her son James and his wife Stacey Currie of Apollo Beach, FL, her two step children, Glenn Currie Jr. and his wife Katherine of Amesbury and Shannon Phillips and her husband Shawn of Beverly; five grandchildren, Reese, Alex, Cecilia, and Brenna Currie and Zackary Phillips.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral service will be held there on Monday at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers please donate to a veterans organization of your choice or to the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center at Mass General Hospital.
