Obituary of John Kallas

Peabody – John Kallas 66, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Salem Hospital.

Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late James and Julie (Bezemes) Kallas. He graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1971 and attended Bentley College in Waltham.

Mr. Kallas had owned and operated the Salem Diner on Loring Avenue in Salem for many years until the time of his retirement.

Surviving him are two sisters, Estelle McInnis and her husband, Charles of New Port Richey, FL and Kathryn Hansen and her husband, Harry of Newburyport, two nieces, Alexa Gordon and her husband, Brett and Jamie Hansen, a great-nephew, Jace Gordon, a great-niece, Julia Gordon and many cousins and extended family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service in the church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
