Obituary of Arthur L. Lowe

Arthur L. Lowe, 85 years, husband of Ruth M. (Fitzmaurice) Lowe of Peabody died Saturday, July 12 in Peabody after a lengthy illness. Mr. Lowe was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Peabody, son of the late Lawrence and Leona (Tremblay) Lowe. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident. During WWII, he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Baltimore as a Machinist's Mate First Class. He was employed as a millwright in the leather industry for 50 years, working at the former Crease & Cook Leather Co. in Danvers and Korn Leather Co. in Peabody. He then worked for many years for his brother at the former Lowe Millwrights of Peabody. He was a member of the International Order of Alhambra Lugo Caravan #113. In addition to his wife of 60 years he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, J. Laurence "Larry" Lowe, Stephen A. and Paula Lowe and Richard T. Lowe all of Peabody; three daughters and their husbands, Robin A. and Charles Helas and Mary E. "Beth" and Kenneth Stantial all of Peabody and Gail M. and Andrew Coveluzzi of Swampscott; three sisters, Alice Caron of Peabody, Emma Espinola of Danvers and Lucille Doleski of Florence, KY; eight grandchildren, Mary Kate and Charles Helas, Christopher Lowe, Nicole and Amanda Stantial all of Peabody, Stephen Lowe of Medford, Jessica and Christina Stevens both of Swampscott and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Albert and Leonard Lowe. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location in Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
