Obituary of Leonard C Levesque, Sr

Leonard C. Levesque, Sr, 76, retired Peabody police officer, died peacefully surrounded by his children on Wednesday, August 21, 2019following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Frances (Woitunski) Levesque.

Born in Peabody on May 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Leo and Charlotte (Skinner) Levesque. He was a graduate of St. John’s Elementary School and Peabody High School.  He had also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

 Lenny was a police officer for the City of Peabody for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1999. He had also owned and operated the former Lenny’s Barber Shop for several years and had managed the Esquire Apartments in Peabody for several years. He was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and the Peabody Italian Club.

He is survived by his son, Lynn firefighter, Leonard Levesque, Jr. and his fiancée, Kristin Bongiorno of Peabody; three daughters, Bethanne Lelievre and her husband, Raymond of Townsend, Donna D’Amato and her husband, Tom of Peabody and Ann Marie Senese and her husband, Michael of Middleton, his ten grandchildren, Jonathan Tanguay, Jennifer Gamache and her husband Nick, Jacob Ovaska, Anthony Lelievre, Jaimie Mulvey and her husband, Kevin, T.J. and Matthew D’Amato, Michael Senese, Jr, Christopher Senese and Tyla Levesque; his sister, Shirley (Levesque) McManus of CA; his mother-in-law, Helen (Michalek) Woitunski of Peabody; many nieces and nephews and by his step-daughter, Bobbi (King) Woodward. He was predeceased by his second wife, Evelyn (Burr) Levesque and by his two brothers, Raymond and Leo Levesque.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Peabody City Hall C/O Veteran’s Department, 24 Lowell St, Peabody, MA 01960
