Obituary of Paul R LaVallee
Paul Rosario LaVallee, 88, of Seabrook, NH and formerly of Swampscott and Salem MA, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of nearly 64 years to Pauline (Ouellette) LaVallee.
Paul was born in Peabody MA on May 3, 1931, the son of the late Rosario “Pete” and Alicia (Tardiff) LaVallee and was raised in Salem MA graduating from St. Joseph Academy. He entered the US Air Force where he served as an aircraft engine mechanic in Japan during the Korean War. He returned home as a staff sergeant and married the sweetheart of his life, Pauline. Together they settled in Swampscott MA to raise their family. He worked at the General Electric Co, River Works plant in Lynn for 31 years where he held many positions, including jet engine tester, technical writer and finance manager before retiring 29 years ago. A dedicated husband and father to his beloved wife Pauline and five children, he devoted his many talents to making life better for his family. He was a voracious reader of history, politics and investing, a talented carpenter and a creative gardener and landscaper. He had a passion for the outdoors, climbing the mountains of New Hampshire and riding his motorcycle.
Enjoying many post-retirement years, Paul and Pauline were able to travel, and he fully utilized his creative skills with numerous carpentry and gardening projects. A man of strong faith, he and Pauline were very active members of Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence where he completed many restoration projects. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, his five children, Marc and his wife Amy LaVallee of Salem, MA, David LaVallee of Haverhill, Michael LaVallee and Collette LaVallee both of Swampscott and Nicole LaVallee of Woburn, his sisters-in-law, Stella LaVallee of Hopkinton, Rita Ouellette of Spencer, a brother-in-law, Paul Ouellette of Westboro, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Norman LaVallee and the brother-in-law of the late Gerard Ouellette and Lorraine Stockton. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody MA, where a Rosary service will be held at 5:30 PM. A Funeral Requiem Massl will be held on Monday, August 26, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Lawrence MA. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem MA.
