There are certain serendipities in life when character traits we discover in others elicit harmony and happiness to us. For those who have had the pleasure of knowing Richard Buono, this was their reality. I had the good fortune of meeting Richard through my best friend, Richard’s son Michael. Rich was the proverbial calm in the storm. He often recited the Italian phrase “piano piano,” translated as patience, take your time. This adage very much epitomized Rich. He simply made people happy. To know him was to love him. Even as a young teenager attending what else but a party at the Buono home, when Rich could be found happily handing drinks to everyone he saw. He would say, “what can I get you,” then he’d hand you a drink and say “ALL RIGHT.” Then there was the time when a stranger at a Boston restaurant complemented Rich on his tie. Rich”s response was to hand the man his tie. I’m sure many of you have similar examples of his expressions of affability. My life has been enriched by knowing you, Rich. May your soul Rest In Peace with my good friend Michael. When you see him, tell him I said “ALL RIGHT!”
