Obituary of Jennie Costas

  Jennie “Janice” Costas, 93, of Peabody died peacefully on Sunday morning, September 8,  2019 at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center, North Andover with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Paul N.Costas.

Jennie was born in Salem, MA of August 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Alex and Agnes (Leondiris) Petropoulos and was raised  in Peabody graduating from Peabody High School.

She had been a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and belonged to the Philoptohos Society of St. Vasilios  Church.      In her earlier she enjoyed playing Bridge and later  gave lessons on Playing Bridge.

She is survived by her husband, Paul of  Peabody, her daughters and son-in-laws,  Barbara Costas Copp   of   Peabody and Gayle and Stefanos Loisou of Middleton, MA, a brother and sister-in-law,  Frank and Cynthia Peters of Peabody, and was “Yia- Yia” to Jason and Shawna Copp, Gina and Matthew Leeser and James and Natalie Loisou, and great grandmother to Kali and Nick Copp, Sam, Athena and Nia Leeser an Stefanos Loisou.   She was the sister of the late James Petropoulos , Agnes Fedas, Martha Stravos and Clara Geanoulis.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM  to 11:00AM at St. Vasilison Greek Church,  5 Paleologos St. Peabody followed by Services there at 11:00 AM.     Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 in her memory.   Assisting the family is the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home of  Peabody.
