Obituary of Helen F. Decoulos

Peabody - Helen F. Decoulos died on September 11, 2019 at Putnam Farm Assisted Living facility in Danvers.  She was born in Peabody on February 23, 1933 to William and Elsie Manos.  She was a graduate of Peabody High School and a graduate of Beverly Hospital School of Nursing.  She lived in Peabody all her life except that, for the last few years, she resided in Gloucester and later in Brooksby Village, Peabody with her husband, Nicholas J. Decoulos, whom she married on July 24, 1954.  They enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage together.

She enjoyed building their residence on Wheatland St., Peabody, cooking for her growing family, gardening, ceramics, sewing, quilting, general crafting and handmade many oriental rugs.  She and her husband sojourned for the winters in Venice, Florida.

She is survived by her husband, Nicholas J. Decoulos of Peabody; their son, James N. Decoulos of Topsfield and his wife, Marilyn and their children: Deanna, Demetri and Katina; their son, William N. Decoulos of Chanhassen, MN; their son, Peter N. Decoulos of Topsfield and his wife, Debra, and their children: Nicholas P. Decoulos, his daughter Ellie, and Michael P. Decoulos, and his wife, Tanya; and their son Paul N. Decoulos of Gloucester.  She is also survived by her sister, Estelle Cabral.

She was predeceased by their youngest child, Catherine E. Decoulos; by Nicholas W. Decoulos, son of William N. Decoulos and his former wife, Nancy Decoulos; and by her siblings, Paul Manos and Frank Manos. 

Visiting hours will be at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Her funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Franciscan Children’s Hospital (formerly the Joseph P.
