Obituary of Wayne A. Hill

Wayne A Hill, 91, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Monday morning at Salem Hospital.  He was the devoted husband of the late Barbara (Scannell) Hill.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Frank Edgar and Julia E (Regan) Hill.  He was raised and educated in Massachusetts and has lived in Peabody for the past 60 years.

Wayne was a veteran of WWII who served with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1948.  Following the war, he received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and was employed with General Electric as a logistics manager for over 40 years before retiring in 1988. 

Wayne was an avid reader and loved the library, but his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family and sharing in all of their activities.

He is survived by his son David and his wife Julie Hill and his daughter Gail and her husband Ronald Pearson, all of Peabody, his brother, Robert and his wife Judy Hill of FL, and is also survived by his beloved four grandchildren, Nicole, Peter, Lindsay, and Hayley and by his four great grandchildren, Jaiden, Camden, Reagan, and Will Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and his Funeral Service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Second Congregational Church, Maple St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Second Congregational Church, 12 Maple St, Peabody, MA 01960.
