Obituary of Lois H. O'Hara
Lois H. (Little) O’Hara 89, beloved wife of the late William J. O’Hara, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at her home in Peabody surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late William and Julia (Emelian) Little. A lifelong resident of Peabody, Mrs. O’Hara attended the Peabody Public Schools and raised her family in the family home, which she and her husband built in the early 1950’s. Many great memories and family traditions were made at the family home, along with the close-knit neighborhood of growing families and friends.
Lois started her early career at the A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody, became a homemaker to raise her family, then returned to the workforce for many years at the Devcon Corporation in Danvers. In her later years, after becoming a widow, Lois enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren along with the comfort of her home and her cherished memories – most importantly of those centered around her dearly-missed husband, Bill.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her late husband, with whom she shared forty-nine years of marriage, she is survived by a daughter, Karen MacPhee of Tewksbury, two sons and their spouses, Brian and Julie O’Hara of Portsmouth, NH and Mark and Deb O’Hara of Hamilton. She was the grandmother to Jessica Salamone of Mesa, AZ, Meghan Spellman of Hamilton, Kyle MacPhee of Andover, John Jerrett of Tewksbury and Ryan Donovan of Hamilton. Also, great-grandmother to Connor and Evelyn Salamone of Mesa, AZ. Mrs. O’Hara was predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Mary T. O’Hara and Agnes Howell, and two brothers-in-law, Jack O’Hara and Edward O’Hara of Peabody.
The family would like to express its appreciation to her primary care physician, Dr. William Boyd, and the care givers from the North Shore Elder Services and the VNA Hospice, for the kindness, support and care they provided.
Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of one’s own preference. May she rest in eternal peace and comfort.
