Obituary of Joseph Bunaskavich Jr.
Joseph Bunaskavich Jr., of Peabody, a retired Lieutenant with the Peabody Police Department died a day short of his 81st birthday on September 26, 2019 at the Brudnick Center for the Living with his family by his side. He was the husband of Jane (Conners) Bunaskavich.
He was born in Lynn, MA on September 27, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Lavino) Bunaskavich and was raised there graduating from Lynn Classical in 1956. He then entered the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Joe first worked as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service for 10 years before joining the Peabody Police Department for 22 years rising to the position of Lieutenant before his retirement in 1989.
Joe was an avid bowler and had belonged to many different leagues and had bowled up to last February. He enjoyed woodworking, making planters and had a love of nature taking nature walks and enjoyed working in his garden. His most prized possessions were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Peabody, a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Nicole Bunaskavich of Hampstead, NH, two daughters and a sons-in-law, Lisa and William Fossa of Peabody and Anne and Mark Stevens of Merrimac, MA, his 11 grandchildren, Laura , William, Allison and Timothy Joseph Campbell, Kathryn Margaret De Jesus, Drew and Alex Fossa, Joseph Bunaskavich IV, Leah, Sarah and Grace Bunaskavich, seven great grandchildren, Aurora, Saige, Jace, Brody, Gianna, Cayson and Odin and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral Service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 AM followed by Internment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 in his memory.
