Obituary of Joyce E. Cronin
Joyce E. Cronin, 77, a lifelong resident of Peabody, passed away Friday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. She was the loving and devoted wife of John T. Cronin.
Joyce was born on September 7, 1942, in Peabody, daughter of the late Frank J. Caliri and Beatrice E. (Curtis) Caliri. She was raised and educated in Peabody.
She started her career at the Lynn Five Cent Savings Bank. She spent the next 25 years as a pre-school teacher at the South Church Day School in Peabody before retiring. She cherished being a teacher and it brought her such joy to be able to prepare young children for a lifetime of learning.
Prior to starting her career she was an aspiring dancer. She also enjoyed playing tennis, and was a longtime member of the Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly, MA.
She was a true matriarch, always leading the way, and always wanting to have family get together for various occasions. One of her greatest joys was doting on her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a great teacher, mother, grandmother and friend, She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, John T. Cronin; her daughter, Pamela Kolbert and her husband Matthew of Beverly; her grandsons, Keegan and Devon Kolbert; her sister, Donna Rose of Saugus; her niece, Kathleen Johnsen of Wakefield, and many friends and former students.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, from 4-7 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a service at 7 P.M. Burial services will be private.
