Obituary of Iris L. Attridge

Iris Louise (Benson) Attridge, 81, of Peabody, MA died peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading with her family by her side.   She was born in Crate’s Cove, Newfoundland, Canada on December 28, 1937, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary J. Benson and had resided in Toronto before moving to Massachusetts where she resided in Gloucester, MA for 35 years before moving to Peabody 7 years ago.

Iris was a realtor with the Hunneman/Coldwell-Banker Realty Co. in Gloucester for many years prior to her retirement.      She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed cycling and taking long walks with friends but her most precious time was spent watching her granddaughters grow to maturity.  She had been a member of the Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield.

Iris was the former wife of William Attridge and is survived by her two granddaughters, Ella Thomson of Reading, England and Harriet Thomson, a student at Mt. Holyoke College of South Hadley, MA, a son-in-law, Robert Thomson of Paddington, Queensland, Australia, and her nephews, Ron and Kenney Coish and their respective families of Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina.   She was the mother of the late Gail Attridge who died 7 years ago.
