Obituary of James M. Dolan

Peabody – James M. Dolan 68, beloved husband of Allison (Fish) Dolan, formerly of Kingston, NY, died Sunday, October 27, 2019 following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Raised and educated in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Marshall J. and Hazel (Bennett) Dolan. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York – Potsdam.

Mr. Dolan had been employed for over twenty years as a talented systems analyst for the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY until the time of his retirement. He subsequently worked as a dedicated financial manager for the Dolan family.

Computers were also an avocation he shared with close friends.  He managed and regularly upgraded numerous home computers; he was one of the few that actually read a Windows manual!  His technical interests extended to home entertainment - he was an early adopter of latest audio and video products.

Jim also had a great love for automobiles, having owned multiple “Ultimate Driving Machines” aka BMWs and dedicating significant effort to restoring a British racing green 1963-64 Jaguar XKE coupe. He regularly attended the Grand Prix in Montreal and the Memorial Day races in Lime Rock, Connecticut. He had the opportunity to drive on a track, as a participant in a driver’s school at Watkins Glen International Speedway in Watkins Glen, New York.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared over forty-one years of marriage, he is survived by two sisters, Pamela Ausanio and her husband, Robert of Kingston, NY and Laura Jacobsen and her husband, Steven of Baldwinsville, NY as well as several nieces and nephews, including goddaughter Caitlin Fish, and godson namesake James Fish. Jim will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Given the role that college played in his lifetime success, Jim and Allison established a scholarship in his name at his alma mater, SUNY Potsdam.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 or to the charity of one’s choice.
