Obituary of Helen A. (Houlihan) Eagan

Helen A. (Houlihan) Eagan 93 years of Peabody, wife of the late William J. Eagan Sr., died Monday afternoon at the Rainbow Nursing Center in Peabody. Mrs. Eagan was born August 23, 1911 in Peabody daughter of the late John and Sarah Jane (Murphy) Houlihan. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from St. John’ s Girls High School and received a Bachelor of Science and Education degree from Salem State College. Mrs. Eagan taught at the Farnsworth Elementary School in Peabody for many years prior to her marriage. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of its Ladies Sodality, a frequent attendee at the Roger B. Trask Center in Peabody. She devoted her entire life to her family and also enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Eagan is survived by 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. Eagan, Francis T. Eagan both of Peabody, John R. and Joanne Eagan of Lynn; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mary J. Eagan of Peabody, Helen C. and Leo Robert Dostie of Haverhill; 7 grandchildren, Nancy Whitlock of Haverhill, William Eagan of Tewksbury, Michael Eagan of Rowley, Deborah Eagan of Ipswich, Brian, Dennis and Colleen Eagan all of Lynn; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her siblings J. Ray Houlihan, Francis Houlihan, Mary Houlihan and Jeanette Driscoll. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
