Obituary of John J Buchanan III

John Joseph “Mickey” Buchanan III died peacefully Friday afternoon surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.  He was the devoted husband of the late Marjorie (O’Brien) Buchanan.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on October 12, 1932, he was the son of the late John Jr and Dora (Livermore) Buchanan.  He lived in Lynn for over 74 years and was a graduate of Lynn Technical High School.  He has lived in Peabody for the past 14 years.

Mickey ended his career working at Eastern Baker’s Supply, delivering and setting up restaurants and most notably the first Dunkin Donuts, before retiring in 1997.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and attended all sporting events, dance recitals, school activities.  He was always available for his grandchildren and they were the light of his life, to advise, support, tell stories, and love unconditionally.

He leaves behind his son John and his wife Paula, of Lynnfield, his daughter, Susan Charbonneau of Peabody, his beloved grandchildren Meghan & Michael and Fernanda Charbonneau and Lindsey and Adam Buchanan, his great granddaughter Ava and great grandson Jorge, his sister Linda Camick of Lee, NH, and by several nieces, and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Louis, Francis, Ralph, Paul, and Earl Buchanan.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 12:00 PM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  Burial services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA 01923.
