Obituary of Joao P. Silva

Joao Manuel Pais Silva, 65, of Salem, MA, died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Beverly Hospital after an extended illness.   He was the loving husband of Lucia (Candido) Silva.    Joao was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on April 23, 1954, the son of Maria J. (Pais) Silva of Peabody and the late Manuel S. Silva and was raised there before immigrating to Salem, MA in 1971.

He had been employed in the leather industry in Salem for 25 years and later worked at the former Kernwood Restaurant in Lynnfield prior to his retirement.

Joao enjoyed gardening around his home and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.  He also belonged to Our Lady of Help but his most joyous times were spent being with the family.

In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his two sons, John and his wife Elizabeth Silva and Richard Silva and his fiancé Erica Tricomi all of Peabody, his siblings, Americo L. and his wife Alvarina Silva, and Michael Silva all of Peabody and Maria Liduina and her husband Jose Silva of Lowell, his precious grandsons, Jake and Colby Silva and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 12 Noon.
