Obituary of Doris (Gouiliard) Hayes
Doris (Gouiliard) Hayes, 91, of Peabody, died late Friday evening at the Port Healthcare Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Herbert “Bob” Hayes.
Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Harry and May (Bannell) Gouiliard. She was raised and educated in England and in 1981 she immigrated to the United States, has lived in Peabody for the past 23 years and has been in Newburyport since October of 2004.
While living in England, she worked as a manager of a news agency and was a champion ball room dancer. While in Peabody, she volunteered at the Pilgrim Nursing Home and was an active participant of the Torigian Community Life Center and was a member of the Color Guard at the Center.
She enjoyed listening to music, traveling and loved life and her family and will be dearly missed by her two loving daughters, Carol Clarke and Mary Newbury, both of Kingston, New Hampshire, a sister, Irene Wilson of England, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Harold and Ronald Gouiliard.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 6:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend.
