Obituary of Thomas R Howard

Thomas R Howard, 88, of Peabody, died peacefully Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband to the love of his life, the late Irene E (Marie) Howard. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William E and Mary (McHugh) Howard. He was raised and educated in Lynn and has lived in Peabody for the past 61 years. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Navy before his honorable discharge. Following the war, he graduated from the General Electric Apprentice program and continued his working career at Raytheon for over 35 years and retired as manager of the Patriot Publication Program. Thomas enjoyed boating, fishing, and reading and his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family and friends. Tom and Irene, along with Frank and Jean Naimo, and Neil and Mary Therrien, life-long childhood friends formed the “55+ Club.” (married for 55+ years). They enjoyed traveling and spending time together. He is survived by his children, Karen Masino and her partner, Michael Ford of Ipswich, Thomas W Howard and his wife Melanie of Chelmsford, Barry C Howard and his wife Gloria of Wakefield, and Debra Taylor and her partner Charles Coppa of Chelmsford, his grandchildren, Kristen Nicholson and her partner Joseph Brown, Lauren Masino and her fiancé George Diantgikas, Christopher Howard and his wife Elizabeth, Robert Howard and his fiancé Emily Sabbag, Lucy Howard, Nicole and Adam Taylor, David, Craig, and Kendall Ford, and his three great grandchildren, Kiley and Peter Nicholson, and Avery Brown, and also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson-in-law, Peter Nicholson, granddaughter Julia Howard, his son-in-law, Robert Masino, and by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Nancy Howard. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral, 82 Lynn St Peabody. His Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St Peabody, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lynn.
