Obituary of Clifford L. Bowers

Peabody – Clifford L. Bowers 89, beloved husband of the late Johanna (Baumann) Bowers with whom he shared sixty-three years of marriage, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Lynn to a large family. He was raised in Lawrence. Clifford resided in Peabody for 30 years and took great pride in his city. He was known by many for his generosity and kindness. He valued his family, neighbors and friends. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. He proudly continued his service to his country for the next thirty-five years with the Army Reserves until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Bowers had been employed for many years by Catholic Cemetery Association of the Archdiocese of Boston until the time of his retirement, he then continued to work as a woodworker and landscaper. He is survived by a daughter, Theresa Bowers of GA, a granddaughter, Dena Duggan and her husband, William of Peabody, a great-granddaughter, Hope Duggan and several siblings. He was predeceased by his nephew, Andrew Ives. Clifford also had two nieces, Elizabeth Barry And Christine Olszewski. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law Anneliese and William Ives of Saugus. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
