Obituary of Marie Eleanor Romano

Marie E. (Sherry) Romano, 94, of Peabody, passed away early Tuesday morning at Brooksby Village in Peabody, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence “Larry” Romano. Marie was born on November 12, 1925, in Danvers, MA, daughter of the late Frederick S. and Jane D. (Keegan) Sherry. She attended the Academy of the Assumption in Wellesley Hills, then the Perry Normal School in Boston, then going on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, from Boston University, then continuing on to the Master’s program at Salem State University. Once out of college, she went on to work as an Elementary School Teacher for the Town of Stoneham for 30 years, retiring in 1988. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting cookbooks and cooking a variety of meals, passed down to her from her family members, she enjoyed reading, traveling with her late husband, especially to their villa in Fort Meyers, FL, before moving to Brooksby Village in 2001. She is survived by her children, Anne P. Glavin of North Sandwich, NH, Jane G. & her husband Douglas G. Thayer of Wakefield, and Kathleen E. & Gary M. Pfeil of Northville, MI; her grandchildren; Candice M. Morse, Mark D. Thayer, Karlene M. Walker, and Emily T. Pfeil; her great-grandchildren, Eden J. and Evan R. Morse, Bobby Douglas Thayer, Leah M. and Cameron M. Auld, and Jack P. Walker, and many friends in the Brooksby Village Community, especially Felton’s Crossing. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, from 3 – 6P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 11A.M. at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
