Obituary of Roger K. Couture

Roger K Couture, 86, formerly of Peabody, died peacefully Thursday morning at the EN Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen M (O’Donnell) Couture. Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late William and Alphonsine (LaFlamme) Couture. He was raised and educated in New Hampshire and upon marrying his wife Kathleen, moved to Peabody for forty years. He later lived on Cape Cod before moving back to New Hampshire and has spent the last 2 years in Bedford. Roger attended Bentley School of Business and received his certificate in accounting. He was employed with the Novelty Bias Binding company in Chelsea for over 35 years as an accountant and controller before he finally retired years ago. Roger was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1955. Roger enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and cards but his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family. Roger is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and his wife Sue Couture of Hampstead, NH, his daughter and son-n-law, Chris and Greg vanValkenburg of Moodus, CT and by his beloved four grandchildren, Alison Neu, Jennifer Couture, Samantha vanValkenburg and TJ vanValkenburg, and by his great granddaughter Eleanor Neu. He was predeceased by his 7 siblings. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
