Obituary of Tomas Abrantes Nogueira
Tomas A. Nogueira, 88, of Peabody, passed away Friday afternoon, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Isaura (Fernandes) Nogueira.
Tomas was born in Portugal, on January 1, 1932, son of the late Antonio & Ermelinda (Abrantes) Nogueira.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a meat cutter for Henry’s Market in Beverly. He was a past director of the Luso- American Credit Union and past Treasurer for the Clube Luis de Camoes, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, all in Peabody. He also served as a treasurer for the Portuguese Continental Union. He was an avid fan of the Portuguese soccer team, Sporting, he had a vast collection of stamps and drinking glasses from many places around the world. He enjoyed traveling back to Portugal, tending to his lands, he also loved reading, watching old movies and could always name all the actors. His greatest passion in life was to always make sure that everyone was taken care of, he was the happiest when surrounded by his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Antonio M. Nogueira & his wife Rose of Salem, Carlos Nogueira of Peabody, and Maria Francis & her husband William of Salem; his grandchildren, Andrew and Michelle Francis, Lauren Luis, and Jessica and Ashley Nogueira.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 31, from 4-8P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 8A.M. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave.., Peabody at 9A.M. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
