Obituary of Jane Marie Rizzotti

Peabody- Jane Marie Rizzotti, 84, of Peabody, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Stephen (Hawkins) Rizzotti, who she lost after 30 years of marriage and missed every day. Jane was the daughter of the late William R. Shea Sr. and Gertrude (McGrath) (Shea) McDonald and stepfather, Charles McDonald. She was raised and educated in Peabody, attending St. John’s the Baptist School, where she was a member of the basketball team, was voted Prom Queen and valedictorian of her class. Prior to her retirement, in 2006, Jane held several positions for the City of Peabody, most notably as Secretary to the Chief of Police serving under four chiefs. Jane also served as Matron for the Police Department and was known for her kindness and compassion. Following in her Uncle’s footsteps, the late Mayor of Peabody, Leo F. McGrath, Jane was also active politically at the city and state level serving as a Delegate to the Democratic convention. Following her retirement, Jane enjoyed working part time at the Agawam Diner in Rowley, where she was a regular. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed playing Bingo and was a formidable Poke player who could be found in the various clubs on the North Shore, at Foxwoods and the Seabrook Poker Room. She also enjoyed her annual vacation to Hollywood Beach, FL, but most importantly she loved being surrounded by her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jane will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends and acts of kindness and compassion, especially the many feral cats she cared for. Jane is survived by her devoted children, Stephen R. Rizzotti and companion, Lisa Paciulli of Peabody, Donna Mullarkey and husband Edward of Middleton, Lawrence C. Rizzotti of Beverly and Leo F. Rizzotti of Danvers; her grandchildren, Sean Mullarkey and companion Crystal Dial, Judith Jane Zambouras and Stevie-Anne Rizzotti; her great-grandchildren, Arianna and Hailey Packard, Isabella and Paris Dial and Neil Sheamus and Killian Patrick Mullarkey; step-brother and wife, Jim & Ethel McDonald of Annisquam, her loving sister-in-law, Emma Shea of Gloucester and her beloved cat, Pretty Girl, in addition to several nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by a grandson, Kyle Patrick Mullarkey; her siblings, William R. Jr. and Robert L. Shea; her brother-in-law and his wife, Anthony (Nino) and Lillian Rizzotti; a sister-in-law and husband, Anna and Edward Prisby, and her beloved dog, Rocco. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13th from 4-8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 14th, from the funeral home at 10A.M., followed by a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jane’s name to the “Kyle Patrick Mullarkey Medulloblastoma Research Fund”, Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA, 02215.
