Obituary of Mary (Patsiaris) Canatselos

Mary (Patsiaris) Canatselos PEABODY—Mary (Patsiaris) Canatselos of Peabody, beloved wife of Anthony Canatselos of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Friday morning at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Cresoula (Andronikou) Patsiaris. She was a lifelong resident of the city and attended Peabody schools. Mrs. Canatselos worked as a Hostess at the Rosewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Peabody for nine years, and previously worked in that capacity in several facilities for the Hogan Regional Center in Hawthorne/Danvers. She also represented Avon for over 30 years where she achieved President Club status. She was a member of the Philoptohos Athena Society of Peabody, the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. As one who shared her gifts of nurturing in work, she loved being with her family and cherished grandchildren. Mary was well known in the Greater Peabody area for her kindness, thoughtfulness, humor and genuine friendliness, and will be missed by many. She is survived by: her husband, Anthony Canatselos of Peabody, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; a daughter and son-in-law, Chrisa Canatselos & Bill Coughlin of Newton, NH; three grandchildren, Beverly Underwood of Lynn, Nickolette Canatselos and Georgina Canatselos, both of Peabody; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vassey Helas and Elaine Petrovitsis both of Peabody, and Georgia Kanarellis, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, George Canatselos and brother Manuel “Mike” Patsiaris. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M.Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
