Obituary of Lawrence A Wirling

Lawrence A. “Larry” Wirling, 73, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at the Hunt Retirement and Nursing home, Danvers surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Charlene Anne (Shields) Wirling. Larry was born in Beverly, MA on March 13, 1946, the son of the late Richard A. and Virginia C. (Carlton) Wirling and was raised in Beverly graduating from Beverly High School in 1966. He then entered the National Guard in 1966 and was discharged in 1972. He moved to Peabody in 1977 and had been a delivery driver for Hawk’s auto Parts for many years and later with his son Ryan Auto Works in Peabody prior to his retirement 2 years ago. Larry was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody serving as a head usher and other activities at the church. He was a proud blood donor and loved spending time with his family. Larry was a loyal Red Sox Fan, and enjoyed watching John Wayne Films. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of Peabody, his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan L. and Danielle Wirling, his daughter and son-in-law,Kelly A. and Eduardo Bettencourt all of Peabody; his siblings, Richard A. and his wife Mary Wirling of Beverly, Pamela B and her husband Richard Biffle of Waterville, Maine, Wendy and her husband John Morrison of Oxford, England, his five precious grandchildren, Marc, Eddie Jr., Kristen, Kayleigh and Kaitlyn Bettencourt ; a sister-in-law, Bernice Condon of So Berwick, ME, a brother-in-law, Edmund Maggiacomo of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. . He was the brother of the late Louise Maggiacomo, Richard H. Wirling Jr. and the uncle of the late Cindy Maggiacomo. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in ST. John the Baptist Church, Lower Chapel, 16 Chestnut St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly, MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 in his memory.
