Obituary of Mary J. Kohut

Mary J. Kohut, 83, of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly, Monday afternoon, at the Salem Hospital- NSMC. She was the wife of the late Richard A. Kohut. Mary was born in Peabody, on March 9, 1936, daughter of the late John and Evdokia (Liatsis) Pappacostas. She was raised and educated in Peabody, a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, Class of 1953. She went on to get married in 1956 and was working in the Billing department of Jordan Marsh. In 1979, she began her lengthy career at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody, where she worked as a well-respected Switchboard Operator and Receptionist, and fulfilled other administrative duties, up until her retirement. She had also been a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends, traveling to visit her nieces, but most importantly being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Peter and Stacey Pappacostas of Peabody, Van and Colleen Tsoulas of Peabody, Elena and Bob Reilly of California, Angela and Ernie Stavros of Florida; her great nieces and nephew, Nina and Andrea Pappacostas and V.J. Tsoulas. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, William and Beatrice Pappacostas, James and Effie Tsoulas, James and Julie Canatselos. Her family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, March 7 from 2-4 P.M at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
