Obituary of George Gray

George Gray, 92, of Peabody died early on Wednesday morning, March 25, 2020, at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Lorraine E. (Gibbs) Gray. Born in Rockport, MA, he was the son of the late Herbert D. and Myrtle (Holstead) Gray. George was a veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Glendale, AZ where he served in the U.S. Airforce. Upon his discharge, he settled in Peabody where he lived for more than 64 years. George was a refrigeration mechanic with HP Hoods in Charlestown, MA for over 30 years before retiring. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed going to the senior center in Peabody, spending time with family and doing woodworking as well. George is survived by his two sons and his daughter, Alan Gray and his wife Tammy of Georgetown, Michael Gray and his wife Doreen of Peabody, Randa Barbaro and her husband Paul of Peabody. George is also survived by his beloved 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 6 siblings. A private family service was held on Monday with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
