Obituary of Teresinha do Menino Jesus

Teresinha do Menino (Silva) (Almeida) Jesus, 88, of Rockland, ME and formerly of Peabody, died Wednesday April 1, 2020 at the Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockland, Maine following a brief illness. She was the wife of the João M Almeida. Born in Saõ Jorge, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Amelia (Gonsalves) Silva. She was raised and educated in Portugal later immigrated to the United States and had lived in Peabody for several years before moving to Maine to be with her daughter. Teresinha was a seamstress who worked independently for many years before she retired. She is survived by her sons, John and Michelle Almeida of FL, Marco Almeida and Cheryl Buchanan of MA and Robert of Seabrook NH and Sarah Almeida of Peabody MA, her daughters, Marga and Steven Hutchinson of ME, Gracinda Leotsakos of Greece and Teresa and Kevin Kinsella of MA, her sisters, Deolinda Almeida of Canada, Margarita Reis of CA and Fatima of Azores, she is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Matina, Kristen, Socrates, Melissa, Holley, Britni, Samantha, Noah, David, Brielle, Madison, and Nicolas, and by her 6 beloved great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her 4 brothers and 4 sisters, and her grandchild, Mateo. A private family funeral service was held on Tuesday with burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
