Obituary of Nancy Jean McCarthy

Nancy Jean (Bozek) McCarthy, 79, of Peabody, died Saturday April 11, 2020 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John A. McCarthy. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Barbara (Massey) Bozek. She was a life-long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1957. She continued her education at Lynn Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1960. Nancy worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Lynn Hospital till it’s closing and continued at Salem Hospital until her retirement. Nancy made many lifelong friends during her nursing career and still attended monthly lunches to stay in touch. She loved to travel to various countries in Europe with family and friends, obtaining many unique items along the way to show her love for culture. She spent much of her pass time at home reading and crocheting. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Deborah Sousa of Danvers, and her son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathleen McCarty of Assonett, her brother, Edward Bozek and his wife Judy of Herndon, VA and her sister, Suzanne Doane and her husband Tom of Cary, NC and is also survived by her beloved four grandchildren, Samantha and Sarah Sousa, and Jonathan and Kelly McCarthy.
