Obituary of Odile "Dell" Bertrand
Odile “Dell” Bertrand, 88, of Peabody, died Friday March 27, at the Continuing Care at Brooksby Village following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Albert C. Bertrand, Jr.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lilliene (Lucier) Field. She was raised and educated in Salem and has spent the last 19 years living in Peabody.
Dell was a line-worker at the former Parker Brothers Company in Salem for many years before retiring years ago.
She was accomplished at knitting, quilting, and many other crafts, and enjoyed knitting hats, mittens and sweaters for nieces and nephews when they were young. She had a great love on animals, especially cats and loved chocolate and was seldom seen without a bag of it by her side!
She will be remembered as the most kind, giving, selfless and appreciative person and was beloved by all the staff at Brooksby Village where she has lived for the past 19 years.
Dell is survived by her sister, Pauline Armstrong of Danvers and by 18 beloved nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her as “Auntie Dell” embraced them as her own children. She was predeceased by her sister Anna Robinson and brother Raymond Field.
Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
