Obituary of Helen M. Woitunski

Helen M. Woitunski, 95, of Peabody, passed away Thursday morning at Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Woitunski. Helen was born in Peabody, MA on October 31, 1924, daughter of the late Antoni and Stella (Gaiko) Michalek. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a faithful communicant of St. Ann’s Church. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for W.R. Grace in Danvers. Helen was an avid knitter, outfitting her many grandchildren and great grandchildren with stunning hats, mitts, and sweaters. She also had a green thumb and grew both beautiful flowers and hardy vegetables. Cooking Polish dishes like pierogies and galumpkis was another of her strengths. Spending time, however, with her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her son, William Woitunski and his wife, Kathleen, of Beverly, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Mila Mulvey, born on the day of Helen’s passing, and her sister, Balbina Flynn of Peabody. She was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Levesque, and her brother, William Michalek. The family would like to thank the staff at Blueberry Hill Nursing and Rehab and All Care Hospice for taking excellent care of Helen during this final stage of her life. Flowers may be sent to Conway-Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, MA 01960, or a donation may be made to All Care Hospice, 210 Market Street, Lynn, MA 01901. Due to current CDC guidelines, a private burial will be held for the immediate family. Those wishing to view the service may do so from their vehicles on Tuesday, April 21, at Cedar Grove Cemetery at 11:15.
