Obituary of Anne M. (Nocito) Smith

Anne M. (Nocito) Smith PEABODY—Anne M. (Nocito) Smith, 82, died Sunday evening at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers following a long illness. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Porazzo) Nocito. She lived in East Boston during her youth where she attended schools. She graduated from East Boston High School. She later lived in Revere for several years, and lived in Peabody for the last 44 years. She worked at the Peabody Library from 1976 to 1979, then was employed as the Hotel Manager for the Allen Hotel in Peabody for many years, retiring when they closed about 10 years ago. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Italian-American Club of Peabody, loved music of all kinds and dancing, doing crossword puzzles, bingo, going to the movies, was very fond of cats, and mostly enjoyed cooking and gathering with her family and friends. She is survived by: three sons, John Aia of Peabody, Joseph Aia of Mashpee, and Gerald Smith, Jr., of Peabody; three daughters, Carol Aia-Bruzzese of Topsfield, Sherri Hall of Peaobdy, and Sharon Rogge of Salem; three generations of grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Nocito of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gerald Smith, Sr., and a daughter Joan Julien, besides her parents. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. facility, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Cremation will take place following the ceremony. Memorial donations may be made to the Hunt Retirement & Nursing Home, Tapley Unit, 90 Lindall St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
