Obituary of Domingos Eliano Ortins

Domingos Eliano Ortins, 75, of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly at his residence following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary H. (Nunes) Ortins for 51 years. Domingos was born on July 22, 1944 in Luz, Graciosa in the Portuguese Azores, son of the late Antonio Jose Ortins and Maria (Quadros) Ortins. He spent three years in the Portuguese Air Force, before immigrating to the United States at the age of 24. He had a profound passion for making wine, was an avid fan of Benfica, and enjoyed the occasional debate when discussing American politics. Prior to his retirement, Domingos worked as a forklift driver for Osram Sylvania. He was a member of the Clube de Luis Camoes, the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost Society, and Our Lady of Fatima Church, all in Peabody. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Lena Ortins and Steven Ortins of Peabody and his dog, Lucky whom he often referred to as “my baby”. Due to current CDC guidelines, a private burial will be held for immediate family. For an online obituary, please visit ccbfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
