Obituary of Stephen F. Baribo

Stephen F. Baribo 85 years of Peabody died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton after a brief illness. Mr. Baribo was born January 31, 1920 in Lynn son of the late John and Ulita (Krochmal) Baribo. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. During WWII he served as a private in the United States Army and was attached to BTRY C0 338 F A. He saw battle in Rome, Arno, North Apennines and the PO Valley. Mr. Baribo joined the Peabody Fire Department in 1948 as a firefighter and remained until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the V.F.W. Fidelity Post 1011, K. of C. Leo Council 508 both in Peabody, the Firemen’ s Relief Association and the International Association of Firefighters Local 925. Many people will remember him riding his motorized wheel chair in Peabody Square. Mr. Baribo is survived by a son, Stephen Baribo of Peabody; a daughter, Camilla Tierney of Amesbury; a brother, Peter Barbal of Marblehead, a close friend Kathleen Reynolds of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his sister Mary Smyrnios. His funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
