Obituary of Anne Sclafani

Peabody – Anne (Freddura) Sclafani 92, beloved wife of the late Michael J. Sclafani, entered into eternal rest onThursday, April 23, 2020 at the Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly. Born in Siracusa, Sicilly, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Filomena (Motta) Freddura. She arrived in this country at Ellis Island as a young child then settling in the North End of Boston where she was raised. Anne met her husband following World War II, were married in 1948 and shared sixty-five years of marriage until his passing in 2013. They moved to the Readville section of Boston where they raised their family for many years before moving to Peabody twenty-one years ago. Mrs. Sclafani had a great love for cooking and eating at her brother’s restaurant, The Daily Catch in Boston where she was known for Annie’s famous fish cakes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Sclafani-Abrams and her husband, Neil of Peabody, her son, Simone Sclafani and his wife, Marisa of Peabody, a grandson, Peter Sclafani, a sister, Constance Palmieri of Lynnfield, a brother, Paul Freddura of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Josephine Freddura. Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Cotting School, Advancement Office, 453 Concord Ave., Lexington, MA 02421.
