Obituary of Stephen A. Woods

Stephen A. Woods, 61, of Peabody, passed away Tuesday, May 5, at the North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Cheryl (MacPherson) Woods, with whom he shared 32 beautiful, loving years of marriage, and over 40 years together. Stephen was born in Natick, MA, on October 9, 1958, son of Leslie and Anne-Marie (Heddermon) Woods. He was raised in Salem, MA and was a graduate of St. John’s Prep. He was currently employed at ARC Technologies, as a manufacturing manager, a job in which he took immense pride in, regardless of what was going on with his health, he always made it in to work. One of the most important aspects of Stephen’s life, besides his adored wife Cheryl, was his extended family. He treated his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as if they were his own children, being there for them, no matter the circumstance. Whether it was putting a few hot dogs on the grill, or just being in their company, family was always a priority. Stephen was a strong, patient, courageous person, always putting the needs of others above his own. Through his battle with cancer, whenever there was a bump in the road, he overcame it, and came back stronger and more resilient, never letting cancer define who he was. He will we be missed by all those who loved and knew him. Stephen’ s family would like to thank the staff at both the North Shore Cancer Center-Mass General in Danvers and North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital, for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided. Besides his loving wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his godchildren, Melissa, Jonathan Jr., David, and Justin Jr.; his siblings, Joseph Woods, Douglas Woods, Donna Wilenski, Adrienne Woods, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. There will be a Drive-up Visitation held on Wednesday, May 13 from 10A.M – 12P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
