Obituary of Edward B. Breen

Lynnfield - Edward B (Eddie) Breen, 82, of Lynnfield, MA, passed away on April 28, 2020 at Beverly Hospital. Eddie was born on Dec. 29, 1937 in Boston to the late Andrew J. Breen and Hilda J. (Keenen) Breen. He grew up in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School. He served in the Army National Guard during the 1960’s. Later, while working in the Accounting Department of Bunker Hill Community College, he attended classes and graduated with an Associate Degree. He then went on to U. Mass Boston, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Human Services. He was married to his loving wife, Roberta A. (Lurie) Breen for 36 years, having met when they both had gone back to school to start new careers. He was a loyal Red Sox fan and liked going to their games with his wife and grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the little league games to watch two of his grandchildren, David and Nathan play. He was also active with Jesse and Kasey, as well as his great granddaughter Lexi. He always said that keeping up with all of them was what helped keep him young. Eddie and his wife Roberta could often be found driving around areas in the North Shore looking for coffee shops and cafes, stopping for coffee wherever they went, or just finding places where they could relax, talk, and listen to music or read, especially if they were someplace by the water. He was an active member of the Second Congregational Church in Peabody, and along with his wife enjoyed worshiping and being part of the church family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald F. Breen and his wife Loretta S. (Silverio) of Melrose. He is survived by his devoted wife, their children Leonard A. Schaeffer of Amesbury, father of grandson Nathan G. Schaeffer of Burlington and Laura I Schaeffer of Franklin, NH, mother of grandchildren David C. Roberts, father of great granddaughter Alexis M. Roberts, Jesse E. Hebert and Kasey C. Hebert. He is also a loving uncle to their niece and nephews, Alaine M. Breen, her husband Paul McClintock and son Ryan C. McClintock of Melrose, Michael A. Breen, his wife Deborah A. Breen and son Thomas D.D. Breen, as well as David J. Breen of Lynn. Also survived by his brother-in-law, David G. Lurie of Pennsylvania. A private family service was held on May 5, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held when we will be allowed to have a gathering. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
