Obituary of Christos Iatrou

Christos Iatrou, 56, of Peabody, passed away Tuesday evening at his residence surrounded by his loving family, following a battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Kathy Iatrou. Christos was born on June 26, 1963, in Loganikos, Sparta, Greece, son of the late Vasilios and Chrisoula (Papalimberis) Iatrou. Christos was a well-known and successful businessman, having owned Billy’s Roast Beef in Wakefield, alongside his brother, Socrates, for over 30 years. Aside from owning his own business, he was an avid car enthusiast, enjoyed gardening, loved travel to his favorite destinations, Aruba and Greece, but most importantly being surrounded by his loving family. He was a wonderful family man, regardless of the relationship, every family member was just as important to him. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Besides his loving wife of 35 years, Kathy, he is survived by his sons, Vasilios Iatrou and his fiancé , Kristen Cotter, Elias Iatrou, Alexander Iatrou, all of Peabody; his siblings, Nicholas Iatrou of Lynn, George Iatrou and his wife Maria of Lynn, Socrates Iatrou and his wife Pam of Lynnfield, Georgia Markos and her husband Nicholas, of Lynn, and Katerina Voulgari of Germany, his mother-in-law, Georgia L. Markos of Lynn, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services for Christos will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 and to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
