Obituary of Juan E. Castillo

Peabody – Juan E. “Johnny” Castillo 51, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 in the Cambridge Hospital following a brief illness. Born in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of Juan N. and Deyanira (Reyes) Castillo of Peabody. He came to the United States as a young child with his parents and settled in Peabody where he has since resided. Johnny was employed for many years as an auto mechanic having worked for Meineke Car Care in Salem and Lynn as well as the Range Rover dealership in Peabody. He was a very well-known and accomplished guitarist and musician on the North Shore for the last thirty years. A member of both Sneaky Pete and Playing with Fire, he started with the Sunday jam session at the Blue Note Lounge in Lynn and attended jam sessions far and wide: Tequilas in Danvers, the Franco-American Club Beverly, was a regular at Celley’s Pub & Grub in Lynn, the VFW Post in Middleton, the Brickyard Bar & Grille Lynn, the Buchanan Café in Lynn, and Bone Fish Harry’s in Lynn, among many others. Friends and fans alike will always miss his heartfelt soaring guitar work! An avid car enthusiast as well, Johnny was a member of "Strokers," an antique car club on the North Shore. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend who will be missed by all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Tony W. Castillo and Brian A. Castillo both of Peabody, his maternal grandmother, Estella Reyes of Peabody, many aunts and uncles including Dolores Gormley of Florida, Luis Reyes of Lynn, and George Reyes of Salem, and his special friend, Barbara Molinari of Peabody.
