Obituary of Debbie Bettencourt Machado

Debbie Bettencourt Machado, 40 of Peabody passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the arms of her loving husband and sister at Mass General Hospital from complications related to an illness. She was born on August 29, 1979 and raised in Peabody. She graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1998 and went on to graduate from Marian Court College. She was currently working at Homesite Insurance Group as a Business Solution Manager, a job which she adored. She was the devoted wife to Manuel Adriel Machado with whom she shared many years of happiness. She was beautiful inside and out and loved by all she met. Debbie was most passionate about spending time with her husband, traveling as often as they were able, sharing those trips with her closest friends. She had a smile no one could resist and an infectious laugh. She was gracious and welcomed all into her home, into her life and into her heart. She was an active member of the Portuguese community, including the Holy Ghost and Our Lady of Help Hall and Club Luis de Camoes in Peabody. She loved giving back to the community, participating in many events and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved traditional Portuguese dancing and music, and best of all loved hearing her husband sing to her. Besides her devoted husband she leaves behind her sister Melanie Espinola and husband Carlos; three step daughters Christina Bettencourt and husband Kevin, Jennifer Machado, Samantha Machado; and her granddaughter Amelia Adriel Machado; her father-in-law Manuel Valentino Machado and wife Ariolinda; two sisters-in-laws Maria Munroe and husband Anthony, Stacey Dantas and husband, Yago DaSilva; three godchildren Shawn Bettencourt, Jake Sousa and Sophia Barreira; her Uncle Manny Bettencourt and wife Marlene, her godfather Jose Bettencourt and wife Maria, her godmother Connie Toste and husband Frank; Her Uncles Antonio Machado and wife Maria, Jose Machado and wife Gorete, Fernando Machado and wife Mafe, Durvalino and Elsa Quadros, Aunts Maria Ramos, Gloria and Virginia Machado, Uncle Josefe Vasconcelos and wife Lucia, Joao Bettencourt and wife Fatima, and Aunt Maria Vaconcelos and many other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Ermolindo and Arlinda Bettencourt; Manuel and Evelina Bettencourt. Debbie had a profound impact on anyone she connected with. When we see the blueness of the sky and feel the wind of summer, we will remember her, always. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 4 – 8P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Debbie’s honor to The Holy Ghost Society, 22 Howley St., Peabody
