Obituary of Joyce S. "Joy" Flanagan

Joyce S “Joy” (Arrighi) Flanagan, 87, of Peabody, died on Thursday, June 11 peacefully following a lengthy illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard “Rick” Flanagan. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James and Isabella (Nicoll) Arrighi. She was raised and educated in Scotland where she met her husband and moved to the United States. Joy worked in the Oncology Department at Union Hospital in Lynn as a medical secretary for over 25 years before she retired. She enjoyed counted cross stitching and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots. Joy is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandra Flanagan of Hudson, NH and Shaun Flanagan of Peabody, her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Manny Felix of Lynn, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Gerald Lovejoy of Newport News, VA and by her beloved 5 grandchildren, Richard and Jessica Flanagan, Kyle Flanagan, and Andrew and Nicole Felix and her two great grandchildren, Mia and Austin Felix. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Isobelle Page and Audrey O’Sullivan. In lieu of flowers we kindly ask you to make a donation in her memory to the Michael J.
