Obituary of Edith F. Blodgett

Peabody – Edith F. (Cunningham) Blodgett 85, died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the Brudnick Center of Living in Peabody. Born and raised in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Edith (O’Connell) Cunningham. She received her education in the Ipswich school system and graduated from Ipswich High School. She continued her education at North Shore Community College and the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her certificate as a registered nurse. Ms. Blodgett had been employed for twenty-five years as a registered nurse in the special care nursery at the North Shore Medical Center-Salem Hospital until the time of her retirement. Prior to that she had worked at Union Hospital in Lynn. A longtime resident of Peabody, she enjoyed reading and yearly vacations with her family. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, she also enjoyed the athletic activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Most of all, she was loyal and devoted to her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving her are her three children, Jonathan Blodgett and his wife, Judy of Peabody, Maureen Kolhonen and her husband, Ed of Peabody and Timothy Blodgett and his wife, Betsy of Gloucester, eight grandchildren, Jon Blodgett and his wife, Mandy, Ryan Blodgett and his wife, Danielle, , Lauren Blodgett, Tim Blodgett, Liam Blodgett, Matthew Kolhonen, Kevin Kolhonen and his wife, Nicole and Maura Kolhonen, five great grandchildren, Sophia Blodgett, Sydney Blodgett, Connor Blodgett, Bailey Lawson and Emilia Blodgett, a sister, Mary Dort of Ipswich, two brothers, James Cunningham of Londonderry, NH and Richard Cunningham of Danvers and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also the former wife of the late Richard E. Blodgett. Her funeral services were private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
