Obituary of Byron L Cummings, III
Byron L Cummings, III, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday afternoon surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Virginia (Vlachos) Cummings with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage.
Born in Athol, MA, he was the son of the late Byron L Cummings, Jr and Nora Louise (Marsh) Cummings. He was raised and educated in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools.
Byron enlisted with the United States Army and served for three years before his honorable discharge in 1974. Following his discharge from the military, Byron began his working career as a machinist at Babco and then later at Magellan Aerospace in Haverhill.
Byron enjoyed golfing, biking, and listening to all kinds of music, but his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Katie Cummings of Farmington, NH and Kerry and Jenn Cummings of Rowley, his three sisters, Sheila Dubiel and Sharyn Kelly, both of NH and Brenda Gunther of Beverly, and by his beloved grandson Otis Byron Cummings.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Friday from 10 AM until 12PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by a graveside service at 12:30 PM with military honors at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
All attendees are required to wear facial covering and maintain social distancing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers, Ma 01923.
