Obituary of Mark V Wetherell

Mark V. Wetherell, 75, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Thursday following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Elaine L. (Pantazelos) Wetherell with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage, loving father of Mark Wetherell of Amesbury and Jill Wetherell Girard of Salem, and doting grandfather to Jackson and Camden Wetherell. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Marcus and Florence (Cote) Wetherell. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Trade School, class of 1962. He has lived in Peabody for the past 49 years. Mark began his life long career in the autobody business at Lynngate Motors as an autobody repair man. Later, he worked for his brother Charlie at Atwood Autobody and eventually became the owner until his retirement about 15 years ago. After retirement, he stayed in the business as an automobile appraiser, a job he kept until his illness a few months ago. Mark was very active in the community. He was a member of the Peabody BPOE Elks and played in various golf leagues on the North Shore. He enjoyed volunteering to cook dinners for various charities and seniors. He also loved cooking for family and friends and his greatest joy was being a grandfather. Besides his loving wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother, Jack Wetherell of Lynn, his sister Barbara Nickerson and her husband Robert of Billerica, sister Virginia Rooney and her husband Joseph of Saugus, sister Lorraine Fisher of VT, brother-in-law David Burnor of VT, as well as his daughter-in-law Pamela Wetherell of Amesbury, and son-in-law Robert Girard of Peabody. He will be deeply missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and all who knew him. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Atwood, his sister Audrey Burnor, and sister-in-law Helen Wetherell. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
