Obituary of Jane F Barna

Jane F (Flynn) Barna, 80, of Peabody, died peacefully Friday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Stephen Barna, Jr. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Philip H. and Lucy (Harkins) Flynn. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of St. John’s School in Peabody. Jane was a pre-school teacher at the Brown School in Peabody for over 20 years. She was also an active volunteer for Ward 2 children’s committee where she organized the annual carnival held on the grounds at Eastman Gelatin. The profits from the carnival helped defray the cost for the children’s annual trip to area amusement parks and Fourth of July celebration as well. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed going on cruises with her husband to the islands and Europe. Jane is survived by her two daughters, Marijane Barna of Peabody and Maureen King of Middleton, her granddaughter Stephanie Barna and her partner Sean Howell and her great grandchildren, Emily and Tommy Howell, all of Peabody and by her two nieces, Heidi Silvis and Holly Higgins, both of Virginia. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy F and John Higgins. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 am until 11:30 am followed by her Funeral Services at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well. following cremation, burial services will take place next spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
