Obituary of Manuel V. Machado

Manuel Valentino Machado 69 of Peabody, in the company of his loving wife and daughters, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Care One Nursing Home from complications related to long term health issues. Manuel was born on January 11, 1951 and was raised in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal. Prior to his illness, he worked as a laborer in local leather factories. He was the devoted husband to Ariolinda Machado with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage where she stood by his side tirelessly with love and devotion. Manuel was most passionate about spending time with his family and friends and traveling to Graciosa as often as he was able to. He was an avid guitar player and sought by many to assist with various music projects. He absolutely adored playing his guitar at any time and anywhere for others to enjoy his music. He was an active member of the Portuguese community, including the Holy Ghost, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He loved giving back to the community, participating in many cultural events and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Besides his devoted wife he leaves behind his son Manuel A Machado and his daughters Maria Munroe and husband Anthony, Stacey Dantas and husband, Yago DaSilva; his stepson Francisco Bettencourt and his wife Judy; his sisters Maria Ramos, Elsa Quadros and husband Dorvalino; his brothers Antonio Machado and wife Maria, Jose Machado and wife Gorete, Fernando Machado and wife Mafe.: his grandchildren Christina Bettencourt and husband Kevin, Jennifer Machado, Samantha Machado, Adam Munroe and Catherine Munroe and great granddaughter Amelia A Bettencourt. His sister in-laws Gloria and Virginia Machado as well as many aunts, nephews, nieces, and many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Maria E. Machado, his Parents Antonio and Zulmira Machado, and his brothers Eutimio Machado and Aciolino Machado: his grandson Anthony Munroe. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 CHURCH STREET, Peabody, Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. His funeral Mass will be private. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. All attendees are required to wear mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
